Tara D’Arquian is a Belgian choreographer, movement director and performer. After graduating from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, Tara specialized in Choreological Studies at Trinity Laban.
Her choreographic practice spreads from film to site-specific performance making. Tara’s work is characterized by cross media collaborations and multiple layers of interpretation with a constant choreographic drive.
Her work is an ongoing exploration of existential interrogations.
In 2013, Tara was awarded the first site-sensitive Compass Commissions supported by Trinity Laban and Greenwich Dance Agency partnership for which she conceived In Situ, the first site-sensitive work of a series on identity.
She then worked as a movement director on This is your life. directed by Alexander Rennie presented at the Yard Theatre. Together they subsequently co-founded Geste Records Company. Tara also recently acted in National Theatre Wales's Mametzwritten by Owen Sheers and directed by Matthew Dunster.
Her projects and collaborations were presented at the Shunt Vaults, The Place, the Gulbenkian Cinema (Canterbury), Asylum (Peckham) and The Yard Theatre (Hackney Wick).
Tara is currently in a research and development period for a new site specific work In Situ 2.0
