How to get there:
Shoreditch Youth Dance Company (SYD) presents its 3rd Winter Platform at Rich Mix on Sunday 15th December, 3pm.
Its been a busy and transitional year for everyone at Shoreditch Youth Dance (SYD), which included an international Summer tour and collaboration project in Sweden, the creation of their 2nd full length work ‘Fable’ and 5 SYD members successfully gaining places at top conservatoires in the UK and abroad including Rambert, P.A.R.T.S (Belgium) and SEAD (Austria).
Winter Programme includes:
* Premier: A new work by Lea Anderson
* Re-staging and premier: ‘Murmur’ – by Mathalda Deville
* Solo: by SYD member Will Thompson
* Guest Company: ‘Wolf Pack’ – John Ross Dance
Be the first to see the premiere of a new work by iconic British choreographer Lea Anderson. Lea is creating a quartet on SYD’s two eldest dancers Georgia Heighway, Phoebe Hart (both also Trinity Laban 3rd year students) and professional dancers Greig Cooke and Edward Lloyd.
The commission is part of a SYD performance and R & D project looking at models to best support graduate progression into professional work.
This Shoreditch Youth Dance project is supported by Rich Mix, Shoreditch Town Hall, Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance and funded by Arts Council Endland and SmikleProject.
Murmer was original created on Trinity Laban CAT students in July 2013. Mathalda Deville has reworked and structured a new version of the piece on the talented dancers of Shoreditch Youth Dance Company. They recently previewed a short version of the piece at The Place’s youth platform ‘FRESH’. You can see the premier of the full work on the SYD Winter Platform.
Up and coming choreographer and New Adventures Choreography Award (NACA) winner John Ross will be letting his Wolf Pack dancers loose again.
If you’ve not seen this piece yet, you’re in for a treat.
